Step 1. Registration of the invitation

Step 2. Preparation of the package of documents

After you received the invitation or tracked it on the site russia-edu.ru, you need to collect a package of documents for contacting the embassy (consular department) of Russia. General list of required documents:

1. Foreign passport (original) and a copy of the main page.
2. An invitation to enter Russia. (Original)
3. Questionnaire (electronic form).
4. The photo is 3.5x4.5 cm.
5. Certificate-certificate of absence of HIV infection.
6. For applicants under 18 years - the consent of the parents to travel, certified by a notary.

Step 3. Contacting the Russian embassy or consulate

When the documents are completed, you need to make an appointment with the embassy (consular department) of Russia in your country. After the interview and the transfer of documents for registration, you must pay the cost of the study visa and, possibly, the consular fee. The term for issuing a study visa is two to three weeks.

Term of validity of the study visa

Initially, foreign students are issued a visa for three months. To renew it, you should contact the General Directorate for Migration of the Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation. There so de issued a multiple entry visa for one year. During this time, you can stay in Russia, travel and return back. At the end of the period, the visa must be renewed for 1 year and this procedure must be repeated until the end of the training.

Extension of the Study Visa

To extend the visa, you need to apply to the department of the university for work with foreign citizens for 30-40 days before the expiry date.

3. Photography.
4. Copy of the contract for training or directions of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia for training.
5. Written application of the institution in an arbitrary form, indicating the reason for extending the visa.
6. State duty (receipt for payment).
7. The detachable part of the notice of arrival (issued when filed for migration registration).
8. Migration card (original and copy).

The state fee for issuing an annual study visa is 1,600 rubles (approximately $ 30).

Each time you renew your visa, you will have to re-enter the migration account. To do this, go to your university department for work with foreign students.

When entering the territory of the Russian Federation, it is necessary for every foreigner to fill in the migration card and have it with him during the entire period of his stay in the Russian Federation. Upon arrival in the city where the training will take place, it is necessary to hand over the documents for the initial migration registration within 2 working days.

Migration card

The migration card is evidence that a foreign citizen has crossed the Russian border legally. Without a migration record card, a foreign citizen can not legally live, study and work in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Free forms of the migration card are issued in an airplane, a train, and also before passing the passport control at the airport (at the railway station).

The migration card is valid all the time you are on the territory of Russia. When leaving the Russian Federation, it should be handed over at the border control point. When returning to the Russian Federation, you must fill out a new migration card.

Migration registration

Within a period of up to 7 days from the date of entry into the territory of Russia, it is necessary for foreigners to register for migration. To do this, provide the necessary documents to your university within three days of your arrival. You will need:

• Passport (or an identity document).
• Visa (if the student is from a visa country).
• Migration card.

Employees of the university will give you a detachable part of the notice of arrival with a mark of the Office for Migration Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation. This is the document on the registration for migration accounting. He gives the right to stay in the country for the period specified in it. Initially it is 3 months, then 1 year.
